Overview
I specialize in helping nonfiction, academic, and business writers who want to take their print and digital content to the next level. Choose between developmental editing, copyediting, proofreading, and more!
Depending on the selected service, I'll identify trends in your writing and how your content can be improved or better structured; review your content for clarity, flow, grammar, and so on; and ensure that your content is polished, error-free, and ready to be shared with the world.
Whether you're a new or seasoned writer, I'll help you achieve your writing, editing, and publishing goals.

- Frances Southwick, Osteopathic Family Physician, Nonfiction Writer |
"Lauryn is a detail-oriented medical editor with great familiarity with medical terminology and a superb ability to catch editorial and terminology issues and provide curated suggestions to authors on how to address and improve the work at hand. She is extremely easy to work with, always completes projects ahead or on schedule, and brings a high level of professionalism to everything she does. I would hire her again in a second!"
- Evelyn Ronkowski, Managing Editor at the NBOME |
"Lauryn, you were our expert in an area where Matt and I knew next to nothing. I appreciated your willingness to step in and teach us, as well as do the proofread on a massive, kind of clunky project. [The work was] efficient, detailed, expert, attentive, [and] above the expectation."
- Kathryn Notestine, Associate Editor at Dexterity Books |
"Lauryn knows how to gather facts, log them, compose them, and polish them into beautiful sentences. She impressed me with her creativity, knowledge, and ability to say, 'I’ll need to spend some time to research that question.' Before you post, ask her to review your text. She sees what needs correcting. What a winner!"
- Alice Smith (no relation), Writer, Blogger, Story Collector |
About
Hey, writers! Looking for someone to tidy up your grammar? To help your words flow beautifully? To suggest ways to enhance your structure? To remedy utterly nonsensical, befuddling, convoluted (read: unclear) phrasing?
You’ve come to the right place! (I bet you saw that coming.) Words are powerful. When put together just so, little signs and symbols like punctuation marks and the letters of the alphabet allow us to communicate and share big ideas. But let rough, untamed copy out into the wild, and your arguments may be misinterpreted or misjudged. Even worse, your credibility may take a hit. Cue scary music. Let's prevent that from happening. You'll find that I'm obsessed with details and that I work diligently to address client needs. I have 10 years of editing experience and extensive familiarity with various style guides, including AP, APA, AMA, and CMoS. I’m also accustomed to working with in-house style guides. With a bachelor’s in biology and English and a master’s in library and information sciences, I'm especially comfortable with content involving the life sciences, health care, and related topics. Your ideas matter. That means your words matter. And that means you need an editor. Together, we’ll troubleshoot and refine your work. We’ll make sure that your final product fits both your vision and your readers’ expectations. Currently accepting:
